1.3 Policies, Procedures, Programs & Funding
Candidates research, recommend, and implement policies, procedures,
programs and funding strategies to support implementation of the shared
vision represented in the school, district, state, and federal
technology plans and guidelines. Funding strategies may include the
development, submission, and evaluation of formal grant proposals.
Artifact: Partnership Proposal
Reflection:
The partnership/grants proposal allowed me to research one partnership to support technology, professional development or curriculum enhancements and one grant to support a technology-enhanced project to impact student achievement. A word document was created to summarize the partnership proposal and how this partnership could benefit our school. The document also includes information on a grant that my school could apply for with ideas on how my school could use the grant money.
The partnership proposal demonstrates mastery of standard 1.3 in that I researched a partnership opportunity and a grant opportunity that my school could use. The partnership opportunity aligns with my school's shared vision and would benefit at-risk students in my school system. The grant also aligns with my school's shared vision and would benefit students with engaged learning in the classroom.
In completing this assignment, I came to find unique school partnerships that could benefit both the company and students in the school system. Many partnership companies were focused on students graduating or becoming a part of the community. This positive find made me look at my community and the resources available to our students. I also found many grants that my school could utilize in the future. When speaking with my team teacher about a particular grant, she was on board with me and helped me with the grant process. To improve this task, I would like to have talked with teachers before finding a grant to see what others in the school are looking for in grants and why so few teachers apply for them.
This task helped me see the collaboration and the planning that goes into partnerships and grants. It is not the work of one but the work of many. I learned what partnerships my school already has and how we reach out to our community. I also learned that grant writing can be a tedious process but the benefit to the school or classroom is tremendous. Observing graduation rates each year as well as observing student community outreach by approving community project plans could assess the partnership.
