2.1 Content Standards & Student Technology Standards
Candidates model and facilitate the design and implementation of technology-enhanced learning experiences aligned with student content standards and student technology standards.
Artifact: Content Area Report
Reflection:
The Content Area Report is a handout that explains to teachers what technologies are available to them for a specific content area and grade level. This handout is for colleagues to refer to when looking for URLs, articles, videos or more information. The textbook, Integrating Technology into Teaching by Roblyer was used as a guide in creating the Content Area Report.
This artifact demonstrates mastery of standard 2.1 in that the content of the report is aligned with 8th grade Social Studies content and GPS standards. The content of the report aligns with student technology standards and gives colleagues one document to find tools for the classroom, productivity tools, online databases and teacher resources to enhance classroom instruction.
In completing this assignment I was able to find all the resources available to my school. Several of the resources I had not used myself at the time. I discovered more resources for classroom use that I began using in my regular classroom. I was able to share some of these resources with colleagues and sent the document to them for their own classroom use. I think it would be helpful to link this document to my classroom webpage for easy access. I could also link it to my wiki so others can add to it as more resources become available.
Creating this document impacted colleagues as well as students. Colleagues that do not have time to look in several different places for resources could come to one place for their 8th grade Social Studies needs. Having this document available allowed colleagues to implement on a regular basis which impacted student learning in the classroom. Several resources found on the Content Area Report are available to student on school grounds as well as at home on their own time. Speaking with teachers in the content area to see how the information presented in the document has impacted their teaching can assess the Content Area Report.
