1.4 Diffusion of Innovations & Change
Candidates research, recommend, and implement strategies for initiating and sustaining technology innovations and for managing the change process in schools.
Artifact: Action Plan
Reflection:
Part I of the action plan document identifies a weakness from my school's school improvement plan along with two research-based strategies that can be used to improve the weakness. Part II of the action plan includes an outline of each step my school needs to take in order to launch a data initiative. The format for the action plan came from our text, Data Coach's Guide.
This action plan demonstrates mastery of standard 1.4 in that I researched and recommended personalized strategies for school-wide change in creating an effective data team.
Part I of this task allowed me to dig into my school's data to see where we have a learning-problem. Throughout this process, I've learned how to identify problems, come up with strategies and plan for implementation. This task has made me think about being a leader in my school, which I never thought possible before. I feel more comfortable talking about data and achievement gaps in education. Part II of this task allowed me to get my thoughts together on beginning a Data Team at my school. This task put me in charge of getting people on board, presenting to faculty and building a Data Team. These steps are crucial in forming a productive data team in which the main goal is student achievement through collaborative inquiry.
This task was a learning experience for me in being a leader in my school. This plan can impact the school as well as students. The actions plan aids the school in developing a data team that will positively impact student learning. Observing trends in data each year to identify improvement in student achievement can assess the Action Plan.
